What CS Life Should Be

You might be surprised on how I actually view Computer Science. I must say I'm a really REALLY REEEAAALLY lazy student, and I try to grasp every opportunity to shine (naks!) in the course I'm in.

1. Tedious math is STUPID. Where the hell would I need Garwick's algorithm, mathematical and numerical methods for?

2. A computer scientist NEVER studies a day on his CS courses. Weird, right? I would have to say those subjects that didn't require reading and tedious solving gave me the highest grades ever. (CS 11 - 1.0, CS 12 - 1.75, CS 174 - 1.0). Sa akin lang, kung hindi ko siya kayang aralin, screw it. Last resort is kung kailangan ko ng 3.0, I don't have a choice. So, if you find me studying, snap me out of it. :))

3. Love your course. Place those hindrances out of your way. HAHA! Pride lang. :p

4. Computer scientist-ness is measured through MP's, not exams. RAWR!

5. I'd want to place another, pero I'll keep this to myself na lang (Hint: Hindi po ito tao).

There're just some things in UP CS that are not... uhmmm... fit for me? Haha.

Big opinion lang. LOL. For those offended, I can't do much with you. XD

Throat Hurts

I don't feel well tonight, probably because my throat hurts and it's gotten worse.

Staying silent does help driving away the sore throat, but it doesn't help on something else.

DS is Love

Nothing is more than a man with his beloved DS.

It plays audio and video na rin, which is totally cool! Ayoko kasi ng PSP. Hehe. :)

DSL Is Teh Bomb!

Eh, umayos na yung DSL namin. RAWR! =))

I was pretty surprised when I was attempting to download an 8 MB file I while ago. Inisip ko, "Shet, mabagal na naman toh," until I was surprised to see 37 kilobytes per second flash before my very eyes.

Today, I declare I am officially a DSL kid. Waaaaaaaaa! Youtube's gonna be a blast! BLAST, I tell you!

What's Scarier Than Fairies?

I once said I couldn't finish a level 90 or higher song in Drummania, when I actually did.

I, right now, am declaring that I could never finish the following song (with bass) in Full Combo. Yes, people -- I CANNOT go through this song with perfects, greats, and goods alone.

In fact, I haven't finished this song yet with bass (but with hands alone, I hardly could). This is one of the reasons why I still play this darn game -- to finish it, with style!

First Day Hotness

First day of school was one sweat-dripping day -- from the moment I arrived to the CS building, to riding a jeep home from Katipunan, finishing CS 129 (Gaming 101, if you're not familiar. Haha! Ask more for further details).

I have missed my first class (CS 133, 1 PM. Sorry naman, I woke up 12 NN). Sweat.

I have gone to my second and last class (CS 150). Air-conditioned. Heaven.

I walked to Eng'g and to the tambayan. Sweat.

I made tambay. Flood.

Rode a Katipunan jeep. Sweat.

Lost a DotA game against another group of people. Hot place. Sweat.

A jeep home. Sweat.

A trike home. Wind. Heaven.

Computer downstairs. Sweat.

Good thing father summoned two electric fans and had them set on three, the most soothing setting a fan could have.

Gawd, I'm sleeping upstairs. It's uber "air-con"-ly heaven up there.

Enrollment Blues: Senior 1

After four grueling days of enrollment, these are the subjects I got:

CS 133 (Automata Theory & Computability). This subjects concentrates mostly on strings, and the sequence of states. It's quite simple really, though this is my second take (I dropped my first take, sorry naman...). And now (a year after), I'm taking the same subject under the same teacher. The best of luck to me. (Weight: 3.0 units)

CS 135 (Algorithm Design & Analysis). This one focuses on algorithms, complexity of algorithms, and more. Haha! I'm not sure. What I am sure of it it's a continuation of CS 32 (Data Structures & Algorithm). I'm supposed to be taking this a year ago, but due to a failed prerequisite... (Weight: 3.0 units)

CS 150 (Programming Languages). I'm darn excited about this one. Here, we're learning a bunch of programming languages and we're gonna do lots. Basta, feeling ko magiging cool 'to. Ma'am Chris pa, o. I'm supposed to be taking this last year, too, but due to a failed prerequisite... (Weight: 3.0 units)

CS 196 (Seminar). In the entire Computer Science curriculum, the previous seniors say this is way ma-trabaho for a one-unit subject. What I know is we'll learn CS ethics here, pero there's a CS 197 counterpart for it, so, I'm confused. (Weight: 1.0 unit)

CS 197 (Computer Science Education). I have no idea what we're learning here, pero what the hell. I needed 3 more units so I could reach the minimum. (Weight: 3.0 units)

Total: 16.0 units.

-

Last sem was definitely the hellest sem ever. I had 15 units enlisted, and 6 units are far from passing. Initially, I had 2 incompletes (CS 130 - Mathematical Methods, CS 197 - Special Topics: LISP). I ended up failing after having to finish my CS 130 completion exam. Though, my teacher opted to give me a 4.0 instead, but I wouldn't be allowed to remove it. So, I would have to take it again (or get ES 21 instead, pero getting one is effingly insane). As for CS 197, bahala na (unless I learn how to Prolog in LISP and debug sir's code).

I'm pretty excited about this semester, especially with 150 and 180. This will be my official first semester as a junior (I'm a year delayed, if you don't know). Can't wait for my first week. :p

Triple Treat

I woke up 1PM yesterday, having three commitments to go to. I was really groggy when I woke up, pero I had to get my butt out of bed and on to the places I'm going to. Had a short lunch, quick watch of my brother playing DotA, and off I go.

(1) CURSOR Summer Ender / Induction. The venue's at 36 Mahabagin, U.P. Village, where never-have-been-inducted members are put to the test. Haha! The said event included swimming, merienda, and a fun game of swimming+Charades. Hehe! I arrived at 3:30 PM though, then left at 5:30. But I had fun. :)

(2) Danielle's Debut/Birthday Celebration. I, Mac and Danielle, Ken, Roy and Edge rushed to La Maison to eat dinner (which was soooooper delicious, by the way). We ordered a barkada meal which included pork steak, beef steak, dressed chicken, and more. I couldn't really describe it further because I was busy eating them. Haha. After, we rushed to Timezone and played Tekken, Drummania, and went Videoke-ing. Ken's quite an opponent at Tekken. Lufet.

(3) GH+Bucks Adventures. With my usual barkada (JM, Kuya Luis, and Renz), we ate at Peri Peri Chicken at Greenhills, and had a peri peri good time (Wahehe!). To get to Greenhills, I had to walk from Ortigas Station (MRT) to Greenhills, reminiscing my grade school days passing by LSGH (awww...). After which, we drove our way to The Fort and made our way to Starbucks, above Fully Booked (Renzie's treat, again). I saw Rap, too, who I haven't seen for quite a while! And we had our usual extraordinary talks about our lives, and our lovelives. Haha! Kuya and JM drove me home after.

It was quite a day. But even though I was tired, I couldn't help but use the computer. I slept 4:30am -- bugbog na bugbog, and my eyelids effin' heavy.

Let's Migrate

Once upon a time, Paolo created a Blogger account which has the domain the reader is viewing right now.

Then came WordPress. Paolo decided to migrate there and continue his blogging adventures there. Until he kinda got sick of WordPress. I think the reason why is he didn't have more choices of page layout and design there.

Paolo re-posts all his WordPress posts here. He continues his pursuit of expressing his inner most thoughts via this blog.

And he lived happily and is cute as he still is.

Firefox vs. IE

I’ll tell you why Internet Explorer never reigns supreme:

It fucking sucks at CSS.
